Are Gravity Subwoofers Good? (Buy or Avoid?)

Gravity Subwoofers Good

Are you an audiophile and are looking for a good subwoofer to complement your car’s stock speakers? What are your considerations? Well, regardless of our personal preferences and tastes, having a dream subwoofer is always excellent.

However, like any other product, quality determines pricing, but vice versa isn’t always the case. A quality product commands a higher price tag but the price tag placed on an item isn’t necessarily a measure of its value. What about Gravity subwoofers? Have you ever heard of them? How good are they?

Gravity subwoofers are good subwoofers that perform well, considering that they’re budget subs. They have deep bass, are loud, durable, affordable, and reliable. However, they’re not a premium brand and will suffer from overheating, distortions, and long-term gradual degradation. But for the price, they’re still decent subs.

So should you buy them? Read on to find out.

Are Gravity Subwoofers Good Quality?

Gravity subwoofers by Gravity Audio are good quality subs that produce incredible sound and punchy bass. They’re your best companion while on the road and listening to music or watching a movie in the comfort of your sofa.

We all know how crappy those stock cars and television speakers are. If you’re using stock speakers, it’s time you upgrade to a subwoofer. And Gravity has a wide range of excellent subwoofers that are power-friendly, produce deep bass, have solid construction, and are sleek and lightweight to fit in most spaces in your vehicle.

However, the subs perform poorly compared to higher-end subwoofers from competitor companies. They lack many features that improve sound quality, are rated higher than they actually are, and heat up quickly under heavy use.

How Good Are Gravity Subwoofers?

As we’ve seen, Gravity subs are decent and not the best in any category. Regardless, they get much praise as they produce impressive bass for any type of music, documentary, movie, or just sound.

It can be frustrating sitting down to watch a movie and not hearing half of what is said. Proper communication, clarity, and audibility are critical to any conversation, and if you’re like me, you should get yourself the Gravity Audio GR-12PW. At $89.99, it’s an excellent subwoofer to boost the music sound in your car.

Solid Build

Gravity subwoofers compensate for what they lack in cosmetic features by being immensely sturdy and durable. They have a ribbed foam surround and a solid build featuring injection-molded polypropylene.

Additionally, the subs have good watts rating necessary to produce your desired excellent sound at the right volume and without massive distortions.

Excellent Low-Frequency Response

They also have excellent low-frequency responses and can sound well without distortions at frequencies lower than the rated 30 Hertz.

Furthermore, Gravity is investing massively in its subwoofers, and the Gravity Audio series is getting better and more refined. The power delivery and consumption are better than in the previous models.

Also, the cone is better designed and produces excellent quality deep bass even at very low frequencies.

How Much Do Gravity Subs Cost?

Gravity subwoofers are generally cheaper than the competition and have price tags of below $300 on Walmart. You can even get cheaper options with more research.

What’s Gravity Subwoofers’ Warranty?

Gravity warrants all its subwoofers purchased from authorized dealerships to be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of two years from the original date of purchase.

If the subwoofer is a refurbished product, the company warrants it for a limited period of 90 days from the initial date of purchase.

That’s quite generous given that some subwoofer companies offer warranty covers for just one year. However, other companies such as MartinLogan offer three-year limited warranties on their subwoofers.

Additionally, Gravity subwoofer warranties apply to the original product purchaser and aren’t transferable upon its sale. In other words, you’ll have to buy additional cover if you’re purchasing a Gravity subwoofer from the original purchaser.

Gravity’s warranty cover has some limitations that you need to be aware of before settling on the brand.

  • Gravity will replace or repair (at its discretion) any subwoofer that malfunctions due to defects in materials or workmanship.
  • Discontinued products will be replaced by similar-rated current models.
  • The warranty cover isn’t transferable.

What Do Gravity Subwoofers Reviews Say?

The Gravity subwoofers are well-rated by many buyers and owners for their excellent quality and affordable pricing. Most of their subs are cheaper and cost less than $300; hence most people are attracted to the brand, not because of its features but its value for money.

For example, the Gravity Audio GR-12PW car mount subwoofer is rated 4.1 out of 5 and costs $89.99 on Amazon, which is relatively cheap considering its build quality.

The subwoofer features a high roll foam surround, a frequency response of 30 to 2.5kHz, a competition-grade pressed paper cone, and an advanced airflow cooling system.

The features are pretty impressive for a budget subwoofer. Additionally, most reviewers like the subs’ ease of installation, durability, and reliability.

However, like most budget subs, Gravity subwoofers usually underperform and aren’t as durable as some people may suggest.

According to reviews, one area that affects the subwoofers is its center cone, which is of substandard quality and rips off effortlessly. Furthermore, the subs aren’t as loud and suffer from distortions when under high power.

So Should You Buy Gravity Subwoofers?

Gravity subwoofers are budget subwoofers that may or may not perform as expected. Therefore, they are a hit-or-miss brand.

If you’re on a tight budget, buy one. But it’s better if you save some more to purchase a better quality sub that lacks distortion, has better low-frequency response, excellent bass sound, and maybe better control features.

And, I’m not saying that they’re of poor quality and won’t produce great sound. On the contrary, they’re outstanding subwoofers, will last for five years or more under regular use, and are cheap.

However, remember that most budget products are affordable because their material is cheap, has fewer features, and might have dubious warranty covers. You might end up at the repair shop more frequently than you like. Hence Gravity subwoofers are decent subs in the budget class but can’t match the performance of mid-range to high-end subs.

Final Remarks

Gravity subs are decent subs that will perform well under regular everyday use. And, as they’re really affordable, the subs will deteriorate with time, and you might need to replace them.

However, they produce great sound, are reliable, have little distortions at medium volume, and have an excellent low-frequency response. Consequently, buy one if you’re not planning on overpowering or running it on full volume.
